Our History
Altitude Optométrie was born from the vision of Dr. Georges Louis, a graduate of the University of Montreal in 2018. Originally from Gatineau, Dr. Louis grew up with a deep understanding of the needs of his community, marked by the dominance of large chains and the lack of independent clinics. After earning his doctorate in optometry, he worked as a traveling eye doctor across more than 30 clinics throughout the province, including in regions like the North Shore, Quebec City, and Chaudière-Appalaches. This unique experience inspired him to obtain his pilot's license, combining his two passions: optometry and aviation. This is how the name "Altitude Optométrie" came to be.
Today, Dr. Louis is joined by his wife, Dr. Danielle Richard, also a 2018 graduate and former traveling optometrist. Together, they share a common vision for quality eye care and a passion for innovation in optometry. With their diverse backgrounds, they founded Altitude Optométrie to bring together medical expertise and technical precision in order to provide top-notch eye care in Gatineau.
